Police officers in Makindu Sub-County, Makueni County, have launched investigations into the brutal killing of a middle-aged man in Shauri Moyo area following allegations of witchcraft.
The deceased was reportedly attacked by a group of residents who accused him of using witchcraft to cause the death of another villager. The incident has sparked concern among local authorities, who have strongly condemned the act.
Confirming the incident, Manyatta Sub-location Assistant Chief Maxwell Kalunde said police, in collaboration with local administrators, have commenced investigations aimed at identifying and arresting those responsible for the unlawful killing.
Kalunde termed the incident illegal and unacceptable, warning residents against resorting to mob justice. He urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report disputes or suspicions to the relevant authorities.
“We encourage residents to follow the proper legal channels when addressing grievances. Acts of violence only undermine the rule of law and threaten community harmony,” he said.
Authorities have assured the public that those involved in the incident will be brought to book as investigations continue.
