The Makueni County Assembly’s Committee on Appointments, chaired by the Honorable Speaker Douglas Mbilu, successfully concluded the much-anticipated approval hearings for nominees to the Makueni County Public Service Board on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025.

In a day marked by intense scrutiny and public interest, five nominees — Benjamin Kioko Kasamba, Diana Mwendwa, Dr. Mary Musyoka, Sylvester Ngei Kiini, and Vincent Ndivo Muia — appeared before the Committee for vetting.

The process, which was conducted in a transparent and public forum, focused on key constitutional requirements, including adherence to Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity, as well as the professional suitability of each nominee.

The hearings, broadcast live to the public, underscored the Assembly’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity and effectiveness of public service institutions within the county. Speaking after the session, Speaker Mbilu acknowledged the public and media for their active participation and interest in the process.

“The high level of public engagement we witnessed today speaks volumes about our collective dedication to transparency and accountability,” the Speaker noted.

With the interviews now concluded, the Committee is set to retreat and deliberate on the testimonies and evidence presented. Their findings will be documented in a comprehensive report recommending either approval or rejection of each nominee. This report will subsequently be tabled before the full Assembly for debate and final decision.

Once adopted, the Assembly’s resolution will pave the way for the nominees’ formal appointment — or rejection — by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior, thereby shaping the future composition of the Makueni County Public Service Board.

The Assembly has assured the public of timely updates as this critical process moves to its next phase, reaffirming its role in promoting accountable and people-centered governance in Makueni County.
