The demonstrators marched through major streets carrying placards and tree leaves while chanting slogans opposing the project. Protesters called on the government to immediately abandon the plan, citing concerns over public safety and the potential impact on the community.
The demonstrations brought parts of the town to a standstill as residents voiced their fears and demanded greater public consultation over the proposed facility. Authorities are yet to issue an official response to the protests.
