Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Musyoka Kawaya has strongly dismissed claims linking him to the ongoing challenges facing the Machakos County Government, accusing Governor Wavinya Ndeti of making unfounded remarks and attempting to deflect accountability.
In a sharply worded statement, Kawaya denied any interest in the Machakos gubernatorial seat, maintaining that his primary focus remains on serving the people of Mwala Constituency and contributing to national development. He termed allegations of his involvement in county politics as “baseless and unfounded.”
The legislator further criticized Governor Ndeti’s leadership, urging her to take responsibility for challenges facing her administration instead of engaging in political blame games. He emphasized that leadership demands accountability and direct action in addressing governance issues.
Kawaya also weighed in on the case of Sammy Kioko, a young entrepreneur who reportedly supplied goods worth approximately Sh19 million to the county government but is yet to be paid. The MP expressed full support for Kioko, describing him as a promising businessman whose efforts should be supported rather than frustrated.
“It is imperative that the county government honors its commitments and pays all suppliers promptly,” Kawaya stated, warning against bureaucratic delays, alleged kickback demands, and political interference that could stifle youth entrepreneurship.
He cautioned the governor against dragging his name into county affairs, reiterating that oversight and calls for accountability should not be misconstrued as political rivalry. Kawaya insisted that any shortcomings in Machakos County’s governance fall squarely under the governor’s mandate.
The MP concluded by urging Governor Ndeti to prioritize service delivery, development projects, and effective leadership, noting that political distractions risk undermining progress in the county.
Kawaya reaffirmed his commitment to upholding accountability and good governance, stressing that the oversight role of Members of Parliament remains critical in ensuring transparency across all levels of government.
