Residents of Muthwani village in Kalimani Location, Kisau Sub-Ward, Kiteta–Kisau Ward in Mbooni Constituency have been left in shock following a double tragedy involving a father and his son.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening while mourners had gathered at the family home to raise funds for the burial of a young man who had died by suicide last week in Meru.
According to local reports, as the fundraising meeting was ongoing, the boy’s father, identified as Nthiwa, died by suicide at his compound under unclear circumstances.
The shocking development means the family will now bury both the son and his father, who separately took their own lives within a span of days.
The son is reported to have died in Meru last week, prompting relatives and friends to organize the fundraiser to support burial arrangements before the second tragedy struck.
The incident has plunged the local community into grief, with residents expressing disbelief over the heartbreaking turn of events.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
