The Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, has clarified that he is not in a position to host a group of young people who had reportedly planned to visit his rural residence in Ichaweri, Gatundu.

In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by Secretary, Communication Kanze Dena Mararo, the Office acknowledged reports of the intended visit and emphasized the former Head of State’s respect for the youth and their role in shaping the country’s future.

“The former President deeply respects the energy, ideas, and patriotism of Kenya's youth. He firmly believes that dialogue between generations is essential for shaping the future of our nation, and he welcomes opportunities for constructive engagement,” the statement read.

However, the Office noted that President (Rtd) Kenyatta is currently unable to host the group at his Ichaweri home. No specific reasons were provided for his unavailability.

At the same time, the former President’s office encouraged organizers of such initiatives to formally communicate in advance to allow for proper planning and coordination. It stressed the importance of structured, peaceful and meaningful engagement.

“We encourage organizers of such initiatives to formally communicate with the Office in advance so that arrangements can be made for structured, peaceful, and meaningful dialogue,” the statement added.

The communication reaffirmed that President Kenyatta remains open to meeting and exchanging views with young people in a dignified environment that promotes unity and mutual respect.

The statement concluded with a call for national cohesion, urging Kenyans to embrace dialogue over disruption and engagement over division.

“Kenya belongs to all of us. Let us always choose dialogue over disruption and engagement over division.”
