Wiper Party leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka on Wednesday convened a high-profile gathering at his rural home in Muuna, Mwingi, Kitui County, bringing together political allies and members of the public to strategize for the 2027 General Elections.
The meeting focused on forging a strong, united front within the Kamba community and among opposition factions, with the aim of challenging the current regime and pushing for electoral integrity.
Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic residents, Kalonzo delivered a firm message opposing electoral malpractice and government intimidation.
“Let it be clear—no one should tamper with the upcoming elections, undermine our unity, or gamble with our children’s future. We are committed to ushering in a just government, anchored on accountability and quality education,” he stated.
He further cautioned the Kenya Kwanza administration against using coercive tactics to suppress dissent, urging President William Ruto to prepare for a transparent and fair political contest in 2027.
Kalonzo hinted at an impending unveiling of a new political movement, warning against threats to opposition leaders, including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. “If the government dares to arrest Gachagua, it may ignite nationwide outrage,” he said.
Reiterating the need for electoral reforms, Kalonzo called for an urgent overhaul of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure credible elections.
He also mobilized the youth to obtain national IDs and register as voters, describing it as a crucial step in reclaiming Kenya’s democratic future.
Joining him, former Deputy President and DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua emphasized unity among opposition leaders.
“We have resolved to rally behind a single presidential candidate. I urge Kenyans to remain patient as we build this consensus,” Gachagua said, while encouraging the Kamba community to wield their political influence by turning out in large numbers.
Former National Assembly Speaker and DP party leader Justin Muturi also addressed the gathering, lambasting the Kenya Kwanza regime for widespread injustices, including abductions and systemic corruption.
He voiced concerns over executive interference in the Office of the Attorney General, warning that it undermines justice and the rule of law.
DAP-Kenya party leader Eugene Wamalwa condemned the government's abuse of public institutions to silence dissent and cautioned against attempts to manipulate the 2027 elections.
He appealed to ODM leader Raila Odinga to back Kalonzo’s presidential bid as a sign of reciprocated loyalty. “You can reclaim stolen land or money, but manipulating elections is playing with fire,” Wamalwa said.
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti publicly endorsed Kalonzo’s presidential campaign, saying the Kamba community is fully behind him. “As a community, we have chosen to support our son, Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka, to vie for the presidency. Those who belittle the Kamba people must stop,” she asserted.
She also echoed calls for increased youth participation in the electoral process, urging them to acquire identification documents and register as voters.
Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi stressed that any political player hoping to gain the Kamba community's support must engage through Kalonzo Musyoka.
He denounced continued disrespect towards the Wiper Party leader, reaffirming his central role in the region’s political future.
