Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya has issued a firm warning to his political critics who have, he says, been scheming to unseat him from his leadership position, asserting that no human power can remove him from office except God.

Speaking on Monday during his Thanksgiving Ceremony held at Musavani IPC Church in Tseikuru, Mwingi, Kinengo recounted the challenges he faced when he assumed office as speaker. “When I became the speaker of Kitui County Assembly, many people were unhappy and started pursuing me politically to torment me mentally. They plotted several schemes to remove me from this position. I am also a human being, and it is not good to torment me all the time,” he said.

He revealed that the pressures within the Assembly have been immense. “In the assembly, they pushed me through a hard path, and I am crying alone because I have been tortured mentally for a long time. These things you hear on the radio every time, as they try to harm me, but I am not a foolish man. I cannot let this seat go when I already sit on it,” he added.

Kinengo left no doubt about his determination to retain his position, stating, “It is only God who can unseat me, not any human being. Anyone trying to scheme for my dethronement is tiring in vain. Let my opponents know that I will remain the speaker of Kitui County Assembly, and that will not change!”

In a shift towards his political future, Kinengo revealed that he has been consulting widely across Kitui County to determine the elective position he could contest in the next general elections. While he ruled out a presidential bid citing his youth and acknowledged that he could not vie for women representative, he considered a parliamentary seat but was advised to leave Mwingi North to others.

“After consulting my family and friends, I have decided to contest for the Kitui Senatorial seat in 2027,” he announced. Kinengo’s declaration signals a major move in the county’s political landscape, as he transitions from a robust defense of his current role to laying the groundwork for higher office.

As he prepares for the senatorial race, Kinengo remains steadfast in his dual message: a warning to those plotting against him as Assembly Speaker and a clear intention to serve Kitui County at a national legislative level.
