Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu has dismissed claims by Principal Secretary State Department for aviation and aerospace development Teresia Mbaika that he gatecrashed Monday’s Nunguni event and brought chaos.

PS Teresia accompanied by Principal Secretary State Department for Energy Alex Kamau Wachira and Eng. Festus Ng’eno, Principal Secretary state Department for Environment and Climate Change were in Nunguni for the launch of last-mile connectivity project.

The event degenerated into a political match when the area MP Joshua Kimilu arrived accompanied by a group of unruly youth chanting wiper slogans and heaping praises on him.

The incidence irked PS Terry who refused to shake the MP’s hand and also denied him a chance to speak at the event maintaining that it was her event and the MP had gatecrashed.

Terry accused Kimilu of having a tendency of gatecrashing and disrupting her events something that she said she was not going to entertain anymore.

“It is not the first time, in Kikoko and Kyuasini he sent goons to disrupt the Presidents meeting, the Deputy President. In Mukuyuni he instructed that the President’s chopper should not be allowed to land in any public institution. Who is he to be worshiped? He should style up!” Terry would later write in one of popular WhatsApp groups of Kaiti.

She also defended her decision to publicly snub the MP saying that her people stopped doing handshakes after the outbreak of Corona Pandemic.

“Handshake is a sign of peace, before you tell me I should have greeted him you need to know he deliberately ensured there was no peace in my meeting for some minutes and we had visitors”, she wrote.

However in a statement released by the MP a day after the incidence, Kimilu denied gatecrashing the event saying he had an official invite.

“As the elected Member of Parliament for the area, I attended the event upon receiving a formal invitation from Mr. Alex Wachira, the Principal Secretary State Department of Energy. My presence was entirely appropriate and in line with my duty to represent the interests of my constituents. Therefore, any insinuation that I gatecrashed the event, as suggested by PS Terry Mbaika, is both inaccurate and misleading”, said Kimilu in his ststement.

Kimilu accused PS Terry of choosing to politicize what was supposed to be a non-partisan and inclusive engagement with the public.
