The former premier who died on Wednesday aged 80 years from cardiac arrest while receiving treatment in India, will be buried later in the day at his Opoda Farm home in Bondo in a private burial ceremony which will see about 500 attend according to CS Kipchumba Murkomen.

The crowds drawn from all over the country, most of whom were dressed in orange and black began streaming in from Friday have remained focused on the main course which is to give Baba a deserving send off.

โ€œWe are here to show Baba Raila final respect. For the last three days we have been awake as most of us could not even eat when we received the news of his demise,โ€ said mourners.

Security has been tightened across Bondo, particularly at the university and at the family's graveyard Kangโ€™o Kajaramogi, where Raila will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.
