Bunge FC have been crowned champions of the Mombasa Agriculture Show football tournament after producing an impressive performance to defeat Mombasa County Assembly 3–1 in the final at the Mombasa Showground.
Alfred Kisembe emerged as the star of the decisive match, scoring twice to put Bunge FC firmly in control. Laban Ndege then added a third goal to complete the victory and secure the championship for the Parliamentary side.
The triumph capped a competitive campaign for Bunge FC, who faced a demanding schedule and strong opposition throughout the tournament.
The team began its campaign on Wednesday, September 2, with a 1–1 draw against Hamburg FC at Serani. Bunge FC returned to action two days later and showed greater determination, edging Kwale MCAs FC 2–1 in a closely contested match at the Mombasa Showground Arena.
Later that same day, Bunge FC were involved in one of the tournament’s most entertaining encounters, playing out a thrilling 4–4 draw against Mombasa Sports Club. The high-scoring match highlighted the team’s attacking strength while also testing its resilience after playing twice in one day.
However, Bunge FC produced their most complete performance when it mattered most. Against Mombasa County Assembly in the final, Kisembe’s two goals and Ndege’s strike proved decisive as the Parliamentary team maintained control and held on to lift the coveted trophy.
Mombasa Senator Hon. Faki, who sponsored the championship trophy, also featured for Bunge FC during the tournament and celebrated the team’s success from the pitch.
The championship marks a memorable conclusion to Bunge FC’s campaign, with the team combining determination, teamwork and attacking football to emerge victorious on the Mombasa coast.
