The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has strongly defended its party leader, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, against what it describes as a sustained campaign of misinformation, personal attacks and politically motivated propaganda aimed at undermining his leadership and public image.
In a press statement issued on Thursday and signed by Secretary General Shakila Abdalla, the party said the attacks are intended to distract Kenyans from pressing economic, social and governance challenges facing the country.
The party described Kalonzo as one of Kenya's most distinguished statesmen, citing his decades of public service, which it said have been characterized by integrity, patriotism, diplomacy and a firm commitment to constitutionalism, peace and democratic governance. It maintained that attempts to tarnish his record through misinformation would not succeed.
The WPF also dismissed claims that Kalonzo has little to show for his years in public service, saying his contribution to national cohesion, conflict resolution, constitutional reforms and Kenya's international standing is well documented. According to the party, Kalonzo has consistently placed national interests above personal ambition and earned respect both locally and internationally.
The statement further reaffirmed Kalonzo's commitment as a Principal of the United Alternative Government coalition, saying he continues to work closely with fellow principals to build a credible, inclusive and united leadership. The party said the coalition is founded on constitutionalism, accountability, economic justice and national unity rather than individual political ambitions.
The Wiper Patriotic Front urged its members and supporters not to be distracted by online misinformation or personal attacks, but instead remain focused on strengthening the party and engaging citizens as it prepares to offer Kenyans an alternative leadership.
The party expressed full confidence in Kalonzo's leadership and that of the United Alternative Government, saying the alliance is committed to upholding the rule of law, protecting constitutional freedoms, restoring public trust, creating economic opportunities and serving all Kenyans with dignity and fairness.
WPF also called on political leaders and their supporters to promote civility and democratic values, urging that political competition be based on ideas, policies and service delivery rather than misinformation and personal attacks.
