The Kitui County Assembly has unanimously passed the Kitui County Appropriation Bill, 2026, paving the way for the implementation of the county's 2026/2027 budget.
The Bill, approved during Wednesday afternoon's plenary sitting, provides the legal authority for the County Government of Kitui to withdraw and spend funds from the County Revenue Fund in line with the budget estimates already approved by the Assembly.
The legislation authorises the allocation of funds for public services and development programmes for the financial year ending June 30, 2027.
Speaking after the Bill's passage, Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya commended Members of the County Assembly for successfully concluding the budget process.
He urged the County Executive to uphold prudence, transparency and accountability in the use of public resources, while calling on MCAs to remain vigilant in their oversight role to ensure the approved budget delivers meaningful development and improved services to the people of Kitui.
