President William Ruto has postponed his much-anticipated development tour of the Ukambani region to allow for a broader and more inclusive engagement with the area's leadership.
The surprise announcement came on Tuesday following a high-level consultative meeting between the President and senior government officials from Ukambani.
According to UDA National Organising Secretary Vincent Musyoka, the decision was reached to first convene a comprehensive leadership meeting at State House before embarking on the regional tour.
The crucial State House meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st, and will bring together a wide array of Ukambani leaders. It is during this meeting that new dates for the postponed development tour will be announced.
The original tour had been slated to kick off next week, with expectations running high among residents.
The President’s move, however, signals a desire for unity and deeper consultation ahead of any major government engagements in the region.
