The Presidential Technical Advisory Group has initiated plans to work closely with church leaders in the Ukambani region to promote ethical leadership, civic education, community empowerment and inclusive socio-economic development.
The commitment was made during a consultative meeting led by the chairperson of the Presidential Technical Advisory Group, Prof. Emmanuel Mutisya, with members of the Ukambani Church Leaders Alliance headed by its Chairman, Archbishop Timothy Ndambuki.
The meeting underscored the pivotal role of faith-based institutions in shaping societal values, strengthening communities and supporting sustainable development. Participants agreed that the Church remains one of the country's most trusted institutions due to its extensive grassroots presence and influence, making it a key partner in advancing national development.
The two sides explored the establishment of a structured partnership that will bring together professionals and church leaders to strengthen civic education, leadership development and community empowerment while promoting responsible citizenship and good governance.
As part of the collaboration, they agreed to organize forums and public engagement sessions across the Ukambani region that will bring together church leaders, youth, women, men, National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs), village managers, professionals and other key stakeholders. The initiative is expected to begin in Ukambani before being rolled out to other regions of the country.
Prof. Mutisya said the partnership seeks to leverage the Church's credibility and expansive community networks to nurture ethical leadership, enhance public participation in governance and accelerate inclusive development.
Church leaders welcomed the initiative, noting that collaborative efforts between religious institutions, professionals and government stakeholders would help build informed, empowered and resilient communities while contributing to Kenya's long-term development agenda.
Also present at the meeting were Bishop Patrick Munuve, Bishop Francis Matui, Bishop Charles Kababu, Bishop Jackson Muema, Bishop Joshua Kimuyu, Bishop Meshack Mukwilu, Major Leonard Kasyoka, Bishop Kiema Musyoka and members of the Presidential Technical Advisory Group.
The leaders expressed optimism that the partnership would inspire responsible leadership, strengthen community cohesion and contribute to building a more prosperous and united Kenya.
