Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has signed two strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Anglican Development Services Eastern (ADS-E) and Rural Water Management Solutions (Kenya) in a major push to strengthen water security, food production and climate resilience across the county.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Wote on Wednesday, Governor Mutula said the partnerships would accelerate sustainable development by expanding access to safe water, enhancing food security and ensuring the prudent use of available resources for the benefit of Makueni residents.
The Governor urged the partners to prioritise sustainability, protect water infrastructure from vandalism and deliver measurable outcomes that improve livelihoods across the county.
Under the agreement, ADS-E will invest KSh910 million over the next three years to support climate-smart agriculture, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), environmental conservation, healthcare and community resilience programmes.
The renewed partnership with Rural Water Management Solutions (Kenya) will focus on increasing access to reliable and safe drinking water through professional water management, adoption of digital technologies and the strengthening of water supply systems.
The MoUs were signed by ADS-E Chief Executive Officer John Mutua and Rural Water Management Solutions (Kenya) Chief Executive Officer Eng. Jamlick Mutie on behalf of their respective organisations. Acting County Executive Committee Member for Water, Irrigation and Sanitation Japheth Mangoka also attended the event.
