Two Isolated After Testing Positive for Monkeypox at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital

Two individuals have been confirmed to have contracted the Monkeypox (Mpox) virus at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital in Machakos County and are currently receiving care in isolation units.

According to the hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr. Juliet Munyao, the patients began showing symptoms of the virus last Friday. Samples were promptly collected and sent to the laboratory, with test results confirming the Mpox infections on Monday.

Dr. Munyao assured the public that the hospital is fully equipped to handle the situation, noting that the patients are receiving appropriate medical attention and there are no operational challenges at the facility.

Meanwhile, Kangundo Subcounty Public Health Officer Fredrick Kimemia has called on residents to remain vigilant and adhere to recommended health precautions to prevent further spread of the virus. 

He also emphasized the importance of early detection, urging the public to seek immediate medical attention upon noticing symptoms associated with Monkeypox.
