Panic and shock engulfed Machakos town on Wednesday night after a well-known bouncer at a popular local entertainment joint was shot dead in a fatal incident that left residents and revellers reeling.
Machakos Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer, Mr. Nzioka Singi, confirmed that the bouncer was gunned down outside the club at around 10.00pm. The incident occurred as patrons thronged the venue, triggering fear and confusion in the usually vibrant town.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Singi said police swiftly moved to the scene and launched investigations into the shooting. A suspect believed to be responsible for the killing, along with a woman who was in his company at the time, was arrested and is currently being held in police custody.
“We are holding the suspected killer and a woman who was with him at the time of the fatal shooting. Our officers visited the scene immediately after the incident and commenced preliminary investigations,” Mr. Singi said.
The DCI boss further revealed that a vehicle believed to belong to the suspect has been impounded and is being held at the Machakos Police Station as part of the ongoing probe.
Mr. Singi added that the two suspects are expected to be arraigned before a Machakos court on Monday, December 29, 2025, to face charges related to the offence.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, with police saying investigations are ongoing to establish what led to the fatal confrontation. The incident has left club revellers and residents of Machakos town in shock, reigniting concerns over security at nightlife spots.
