The Machakos County Government has strongly refuted allegations by Comedian Sammy Kioko claiming that the administration owes him payment for goods allegedly supplied.

In a detailed statement issued by the Department of Finance, Economic Planning and Revenue Management, the county described the accusations as “unfounded and politically driven,” warning that such claims are intended to tarnish the image of Governor Wavinya Ndeti and discredit her leadership.

According to the statement, a thorough review of all procurement and payment records revealed that there was no contractual, procurement, or supply relationship between Kioko and the county. Officials confirmed that no Local Purchase Order (LPO), delivery note, invoice, or any other supporting document exists to substantiate his claims.

“The County Government confirms that no contractual engagement has ever existed with the said individual. The allegations are baseless and aimed at misleading the public,” the statement read.

The department emphasized that all procurement and payment processes in Machakos are governed by the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, and the Public Finance Management Act, 2012, which require proper registration and documentation of all suppliers.

Terming the allegations “reckless and defamatory,” the county warned that such unfounded statements not only mislead the public but also interfere with the smooth running of county affairs.

Governor Wavinya Ndeti, the statement affirmed, remains committed to transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline in line with the county’s development agenda.

“The County Government will not be distracted by politically engineered narratives meant to derail progress,” the statement concluded.

The County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Catherine Mutanu, reaffirmed that the administration will continue to uphold integrity and the rule of law in all its dealings.

This comes a week after Kioko spent an entire day camping at the Governor’s office, seeking an audience with the county boss over unpaid supplies he claims have been pending for nearly two years.

In a video that went viral, Kioko alleged that since making the supply — whose exact nature he did not disclose — county officials responsible for processing payments have been taking him in circles, repeatedly asking him to return “the next day.”

He further lamented that even individuals who had promised to help him secure an appointment with the Governor eventually abandoned him at the last minute.
