Kaluluini FC, Yatta Queens Among Teams Shining As Governor Wavinya Cup Enters Sub-County Stage

Week Six of the 3rd Edition of the Governor Wavinya Cup Football Tournament unfolded in thrilling fashion last weekend across Kithimani, Ikombe, Katangi, Matuu, and Ndalani Wards, with several teams booking their places in the Sub-County stage after intense ward-level battles.

In Matuu Ward, defending champions Kaluluini FC continued their dominance, sailing through to the next round after silencing Matuu Homeboyz FC 2–0 in the finals. On the women’s side, Yatta Queens displayed class and composure, humbling Makivenzi Queens with an emphatic 3–0 win to secure their slot.

Over in Kithimani Ward, Kithimani FC edged past Kanaani FC 2–1 in a hard-fought encounter, while Dozzers shut out Kithimani Queens 2–0 to seal qualification.

In Katangi Ward, Kanguu FC cruised past Scott FC with a convincing 3–0 victory. Meanwhile, Kathituni Queens advanced to the Sub-County stage on superior aggregate after a round-robin series of competitive matches.

Yatta Leopards FC will represent Ndalani Ward after edging out Kisiiki FC 1–0, as Mully Children Family (MCF) Starlets dominated their clash with Simba Starlets, thrashing them 5–0 to march on.

Closing the action in Ikombe Ward, Kikesa FC squeezed past Tinganga FC with a narrow 1–0 win, while Kyasioni Starlets sealed their Sub-County berth after a commanding 3–0 victory over Ngangani Queens.

The Governor Wavinya Cup, an initiative championed by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, continues to provide a vibrant platform for nurturing local football talent and fostering community cohesion across the county.
