Two candidates in Makueni County will sit for their national examinations from their hospital beds after being admitted at Makueni County Referral Hospital in Wote.
According to Makueni County Director of Education Lydia Wangeci, one of the candidates hails from Mbooni West Sub-county, while the other is from Makueni Sub-county. She assured that both learners will be given full support to sit their papers without disruption.
“We are all set for the examination. The containers have opened well, the learners are ready, and even the two in hospital are being taken care of. We have made arrangements to ensure they sit their exams comfortably,” Ms. Wangeci said.
The director made the remarks on Monday during the official launch of national examination distribution in the county.
Speaking at the same event, Makueni County Commissioner Duncan Darusi said the exercise had kicked off smoothly, with all examination materials already dispatched to the ten sub-counties.
“We are here to launch the distribution of exams to all the schools within the county, and I can confirm that all is well. As we speak, all the 10 sub-counties have received their exam papers,” Mr. Darusi said.
He noted that this year’s assessment, particularly the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), is a new experience but assured that adequate measures have been put in place to safeguard its integrity.
“Being the first assessment for the KJSEA, it may look unique in a way, but that doesn’t in any way compromise the integrity of the exams within the county. Security is guaranteed 100 percent,” he added.
A total of 81,716 candidates across Makueni County are sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) this year.
The county security and education teams have assured parents, teachers, and learners that all logistics are in place to ensure a smooth, fair, and credible examination exercise across the region.
