At least 81,716 candidates in Makueni County are set to sit for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations.
The figures were revealed by Makueni County Quality Assurance Officer (CQAO), Mr. Richard Mulozya, who spoke to the Kenya News Agency (KNA) from his office in Wote Town on Thursday.
According to Mr. Mulozya, a total of 30,672 candidates will sit for the KCSE examination this year — comprising 14,838 boys and 15,834 girls. The KCSE kicked off on October 21, 2025, with French, German, Music, and Home Science practicals among the first papers.
“As a county, we are fully prepared to conduct the national examinations. Centre managers and all personnel involved in administering the exams have been adequately briefed,” said Mulozya.
The KCSE candidates are distributed across the sub-counties as follows: Makueni (4,811), Mukaa (3,375), Mbooni East (3,363), Makindu (1,956), Kibwezi (2,534), Kathozweni (2,456), Kambu (2,697), Kilungu (1,964), Nzaui (4,095), and Mbooni West (3,421).
In the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), 28,217 candidates — 14,671 boys and 13,506 girls — will take part. Sub-county breakdowns include Mukaa (2,983), Mbooni East (2,674), Makindu (2,538), Kibwezi (2,755), Kathozweni (2,626), Kambu (2,574), Makueni (3,500), Kilungu (1,945), Nzaui (3,612), and Mbooni West (3,010).
For the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), 22,867 candidates are registered, consisting of 11,677 boys and 11,190 girls. Sub-county figures are Mukaa (2,560), Mbooni East (2,279), Makindu (2,228), Kibwezi (2,147), Kathozweni (1,960), Kambu (1,961), Makueni (2,942), Kilungu (1,578), Nzaui (2,928), and Mbooni West (2,284).
Speaking separately, Makueni County Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Director, Mr. Abubakar Hassan, said a total of 437 supervisors and 1,673 invigilators will oversee the KCSE examinations.
He added that 1,311 supervisors and 3,367 invigilators have been deployed for the KJSEA and KPSEA examinations, which had their rehearsals on October 24, 2025.
According to Mr. Hassan, the KPSEA examinations will run from October 27 to 29, 2025, while the KJSEA will take place from October 27 to November 3, 2025.
