Preparations are in top gear for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled for Monday in Kitui County, with leaders assuring the public that the national event will proceed as planned.

Mwala MP and UDA National Organising Secretary, Vincent Musyoka, affirmed that the celebrations, which hold deep constitutional significance, cannot be postponed under any circumstance.

He noted that this year’s commemoration will not only pay tribute to Kenya’s national heroes but also honor the late Raila Odinga, a revered statesman whose legacy continues to shape the nation’s democratic journey.

“Mashujaa Day is ON. It is a constitutional day that must be celebrated. This year, we not only celebrate our heroes but also honor the late Raila Odinga, a true national hero who left an indelible mark on our country,” Musyoka said.

He further commended President William Ruto for his commitment to regional development, highlighting the numerous infrastructure projects transforming the face of Ukambani.

“We will also celebrate President Ruto for his exceptional development work across Ukambani. Roads and bridges in Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni are transforming our region and improving lives,” he added.

Musyoka spoke after joining a delegation of national and county leaders, including MPs Rachel Nyamai, Fabian Kyule, and Joshua Mwalyo, Senator Beth Syengo, Principal Secretaries Terry Mbaika and Jonathan Mueke, Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kelvin Katisya, and several MCAs, in final preparations for what is expected to be a colorful and memorable national celebration.

He called on residents to turn up in large numbers to honor Kenya’s heroes and reflect on the progress made in the region and the nation at large.

“Let’s come together to celebrate our heroes and the progress we are witnessing in Ukambani,” Musyoka urged.

The Mashujaa Day celebrations will be held at the newly refurbished Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County, which has undergone extensive upgrades in readiness for the national event.
