Machakos County is on the brink of a youth empowerment revolution after a powerful meeting between AFTV founder Robbie Lyle and Governor H.E. Wavinya Ndeti yesterday.
The high-profile visit, marked by optimism and shared vision, focused on boosting football development and nurturing young talent across the region.
Robbie Lyle, a global voice in football fan media, was warmly welcomed at the Governor’s office, where talks centered on creating long-lasting opportunities for Machakos youth through sport.
Governor Wavinya reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to uplifting the next generation, highlighting the critical role of sports in shaping character, discipline, and opportunity.
“We are determined to give our talented youth the platforms they need to succeed,” she said.
A centerpiece of the discussion was the highly anticipated Governor’s Cup—set to be the biggest tournament yet, with over 650 teams expected to participate.
The mega event aims to scout and elevate raw football talent from every corner of Machakos, turning dreams into reality for hundreds of young players.
Robbie Lyle praised the county’s efforts and pledged his support, promising to work closely with the county government to grow grassroots football.
“I’m truly inspired by the passion here. It’s clear that with the right support, the youth of Machakos can go far—not just locally, but internationally,” Lyle stated.
Deputy Governor H.E. Francis Mwangangi applauded Governor Wavinya’s steadfast commitment to youth development, describing her leadership as a game-changer for young people across the county.
