Wiper Party leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has sharply criticized the Kenya Kwanza government for what he termed as a worrying silence in the face of rising insecurity in Mandera County, where Jubaland forces are reported to have invaded.

Speaking during a church service in Mavoko Sub-county, Machakos, Kalonzo questioned why President William Ruto and Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale have remained mute as Kenyans in Mandera continue to suffer.

“The Minister for Defence and the Commander-in-Chief are quiet while our people in Mandera County continue to suffer. They must come out, speak, and take action,” Kalonzo said.

He further urged Kenyans to remain vigilant, insisting that the push for change remains alive and will ultimately be reflected at the ballot.

“This country will not be the same again. The young people, Gen Z, shed their blood to liberate Kenya from bad leadership,” he added.

DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, who accompanied Kalonzo, echoed the concern, describing the unfolding situation in Mandera as a national tragedy compounded by the government’s silence.

“It is sad for the country to witness what is happening in Mandera. Let’s pray for our brothers and sisters under attack from Jubaland forces while the government of the day remains quiet,” said Wamalwa.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who also addressed the congregation, threw her weight behind Kalonzo, declaring him the country’s official opposition leader in light of Raila Odinga’s cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Now that the former Prime Minister has joined hands with the government of the day, Kalonzo Musyoka stands as the official opposition leader — and that is democracy,” she said.

Governor Wavinya went further to rally support for Kalonzo’s 2027 presidential bid, hailing him as the most suitable leader to steer Kenya forward.

“Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka, we are looking up to you. You will be the president of this country. To other leaders, do not use our Party Leader to climb the ladder only to abandon him later,” she cautioned.
