The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has renewed its partnership with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) in a bid to strengthen electoral integrity and foster national unity ahead of future elections.

In a consultative meeting chaired by IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon, the two institutions explored areas of collaboration, with a focus on enhancing election security and promoting peaceful coexistence across the country.

Mr. Ethekon expressed gratitude to NCIC for honoring the invitation and commended the longstanding relationship between the two bodies. He emphasized the need for a structured framework to guide their cooperation.

“We look forward to identifying key areas where NCIC and IEBC can collaborate under a clear framework of partnership, guided by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). A top priority is election security, building on past successes and enhancing robust measures that safeguard electoral integrity and promote peace,” said the IEBC Chairperson.

On his part, NCIC Chairperson Rev. Dr. Samuel Kobia underscored the Commission’s constitutional mandate to foster equality, harmony and good relations among Kenyans of diverse ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds.

“NCIC is mandated to facilitate and promote equality of opportunity, good relations, harmony and peaceful co-existence between persons of different ethnic, religious and racial communities of Kenya, and to advise the Government on all aspects thereof,” Dr. Kobia stated.

The meeting reaffirmed the institutions’ shared responsibility in promoting national cohesion, eliminating ethnic discrimination, and cultivating a culture of tolerance and diversity.

Both IEBC and NCIC pledged to deepen collaboration to safeguard democracy, enhance inclusivity, and ensure Kenya remains peaceful and united during and beyond the electioneering period.
