In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have arrested two suspects and seized 450 kilograms of cannabis sativa with an estimated street value of Sh13.5 million.
The operation, carried out following a tip-off, saw the officers intercept a Toyota Noah (registration number KBH 226U) near the Delamere shop along the busy Naivasha-Nairobi highway. The vehicle, driven by Bonface Mandende Zinjenga and his accomplice John Oloo Amolo, was stopped and subjected to a thorough search.
Upon inspection, officers discovered eight gunny bags and eleven bales of cannabis, carefully concealed within the vehicle and believed to be intended for widespread distribution.
The suspects were immediately taken into custody and escorted to Naivasha Police Station, where the full extent of the drug haul was confirmed. Both the vehicle and the narcotics were subsequently transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi for further analysis and processing.
Authorities have confirmed that the two suspects will be arraigned in court to face charges related to drug trafficking. Investigations are ongoing to establish the source and intended destination of the narcotics.
The DCI has reiterated its commitment to disrupting the drug supply chain and bringing traffickers to justice, urging members of the public to continue sharing information that can help dismantle such criminal networks.
