President William Ruto has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to investing in education, saying the quality of Kenya’s future will depend largely on the human capital developed today.
Speaking in Uasin Gishu County, Ruto said his administration has prioritised education as a key driver of Kenya’s transformation into a modern, inclusive and prosperous economy.
The President said the government has hired 100,000 teachers over the past four years and constructed 23,000 classrooms as part of efforts to improve learning conditions across the country.
He added that the government is also expanding infrastructure in learning institutions through the construction of student hostels and dormitories to address accommodation challenges.
Ruto also highlighted the government’s new higher education financing model, saying it is designed to ensure that students can access university and other higher education opportunities regardless of their family backgrounds.
He said the investments are aimed at equipping young Kenyans with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to compete in a modern economy.
“We are equipping our young people with the knowledge, skills and competencies that will transition Kenya into a modern, inclusive and prosperous first-world economy,” Ruto said.
During his visit to Uasin Gishu County, the President handed over a new bus to Moi Barracks Senior School to support the institution’s operations and learning activities.
Ruto also announced that the government is constructing an additional multipurpose hall and dormitory at the school to expand its facilities and enable it to accommodate more students.
The projects are expected to improve the school’s capacity while providing learners with better facilities and a more conducive environment for education.
Ruto said the continued investment in teachers, classrooms and school infrastructure is part of the government’s broader strategy to prepare Kenya’s young population for future opportunities and drive the country’s long-term economic transformation.
