Residents of Thange in Kibwezi East, Makueni County, have renewed their call for government intervention over a long-running dispute stemming from an oil spill more than a decade ago.
The residents are appealing to President William Ruto to intervene and help bring an end to the matter, which they say has remained unresolved despite years of efforts to seek justice.
Speaking during an assessment meeting, the affected residents recounted the challenges they have faced since the incident, saying the prolonged wait for a resolution has continued to cause losses and hardship.
They expressed frustration over what they described as years of delays, with their efforts to secure justice yet to produce a satisfactory outcome.
The residents are now urging the national government and relevant state agencies to urgently review the matter, address outstanding concerns and ensure those affected receive appropriate redress.
They say government intervention is necessary to bring closure to a dispute that has dragged on for more than ten years.
For the residents of Thange, the latest appeal represents another push to have their grievances addressed and to secure justice after a decade of waiting.
