Family, friends and members of the community gathered at Kitandi Village in Waia/Kako Ward, Makueni County, to pay their final respects to Benjamin Musembi Wambua, a retired healthcare professional whose life was defined by service, faith and commitment to family.

The funeral service, led by clergy from the Africa Inland Church (AIC), brought together relatives, church groups, colleagues and friends who celebrated a man remembered for his humility, compassion and unwavering dedication to helping others.

Born on June 12, 1960, in Kunikila Village, Mbiuni Location, Machakos County, Benjamin was the son of the late Paul Wambua and the late Tabitha Kalondu Wambua. He grew up in a close-knit family and pursued his education at Kunikila Primary School before joining Itikoni Secondary School. His passion for serving humanity later led him to Machakos Medical Training College, where he trained in healthcare.

Throughout his professional career, Benjamin served under the Ministry of Health and later the Makueni County Government. He worked in several health facilities, including Matuu Health Centre, Kilala Health Centre, Nziu Health Centre and Kako Health Centre, earning respect for his professionalism and dedication to patients. Colleagues described him as a dependable and compassionate health worker whose service touched countless lives. He retired from public service on June 11, 2020.

Tributes from family members painted the picture of a loving husband, father and grandfather who placed family at the centre of his life.

His wife, Margaret Mumbua Taiti, described him as not only her husband but also her best friend, strength and greatest blessing. She recalled the many years they shared together, saying he faithfully supported the family and stood by her through every challenge and joy.

Their children remembered him as a pillar of strength, a teacher and protector whose wisdom and guidance shaped their lives. They praised his humility, integrity and strong work ethic, saying his legacy would continue to inspire future generations.

Grandchildren also paid glowing tribute to their grandfather, recalling his kindness, warmth and the special moments he shared with them. They described him as a loving and caring figure whose memories would forever remain in their hearts.

Benjamin married Margaret in 1985, and the couple later solemnized their union through Holy Matrimony on April 12, 2008. Together they were blessed with six children and several grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply.

Beyond his family life, Benjamin was a devoted Christian and active member of AIC Jerusalem Kitandi Church. He served in various leadership roles, including Choir Chairperson, Christian Men's Fellowship member and Welfare Coordinator. Church leaders praised his dedication to God's work and his commitment to serving the church community.

Speakers at the funeral described him as a man who lived a life of faith, service and integrity. They noted that even after retirement, he remained actively involved in community and church affairs, offering guidance and support to those around him.

Benjamin's health challenges began in early 2025, leading to several hospital visits and treatment sessions. On June 4, 2026, he was re-admitted to hospital for further treatment. Despite efforts by his family and medical team, he passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 65.

As hymns filled the air and mourners offered their final tributes, speakers urged family members to uphold the values he stood for—faith, hard work, unity and service to others.

He was laid to rest at his Kitandi home amid prayers, songs of hope and heartfelt tributes, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, kindness and selfless service that will be remembered for generations.

Benjamin Musembi Wambua is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and many friends whose lives he touched through his service, faith and love.
