A multi-agency team of detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) based at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters has recovered a significant consignment of cannabis sativa during a raid in Lang’ata, Nairobi County.
The operation was conducted following intelligence reports linking several individuals in the area to an alleged drug trafficking network. Acting on the information, the detectives raided a residence at Maasai Estate along Kitengela Road.
According to investigators, officers were initially received by a male suspect who appeared cooperative when they arrived at the premises. However, in a dramatic turn of events, the suspect allegedly pretended to search for the gate keys before escaping through a back window, successfully evading arrest.
Shortly afterwards, a female suspect opened the gate, allowing officers to gain access to the compound.
A thorough search of the property led to the discovery of seven sacks filled with cannabis sativa concealed inside the servant quarters. Detectives also recovered two weighing scales and a roll of yellow cellotape believed to have been used in packaging the illegal substance.
Further searches inside the main house uncovered two carton boxes containing Rizla rolling papers, a mobile phone, and several assorted documents that detectives believe point to a well-organized drug distribution operation.
The recovered items were seized and transported to the DCI Headquarters exhibits store for safe custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, detectives have intensified efforts to track down the male suspect who escaped during the operation.
