Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has thrown his weight behind the re-election bid of Governor Wavinya Ndeti, describing her leadership as the most strategic pathway for residents of Masinga, Yatta, and Mwala to eventually secure the county’s top leadership.
Speaking during a public engagement at Kateki in Matuu, Machakos County, Mwangangi urged residents to remain politically united and avoid internal divisions that he said had previously cost the region its influence and direction. He cautioned that failure to maintain cohesion could once again derail the community’s long-term political ambitions.
The Deputy Governor revisited the fallout between former Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala and former Governor Alfred Mutua, noting that the rift created a leadership vacuum and weakened the region’s bargaining power.
“We must not lose focus again. The mistakes of the past should guide us to remain united and strategic in our political decisions,” Mwangangi said.
He called on residents to fully support Governor Ndeti through her two-term tenure, expressing confidence that such loyalty would position the region favorably to secure the governorship in future political cycles.
The Deputy Governor also rallied support for Kalonzo Musyoka, calling on residents to register as voters and consolidate their numbers ahead of future elections. He emphasized that unity within the region would be crucial in bolstering Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions.
According to Mwangangi, the region must ensure that all elective positions are held by candidates affiliated with the Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya to strengthen its political voice at the national level.
He further criticized President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of widespread mismanagement of public resources. However, he urged residents to remain firm in their political choices, emphasizing that short-term incentives should not influence their voting decisions.
“We must stand together as a people. Our unity is our strength, and it is the only way we can secure both county and national leadership positions in the future,” he added.
