A dramatic police operation along the busy Mombasa–Nairobi Highway has led to the arrest of a man believed to be part of a major drug trafficking syndicate.
Officers from Samburu Police Station in Kwale County intercepted a Mazda CX-5, registration number KDR 284H, near the DEVKI Steel Plant following a tip-off from members of the public. Acting swiftly, the officers flagged down the vehicle, prompting its occupants to flee in different directions.
Their escape, however, was short-lived. Christopher Hannington Jobita was apprehended before he could make a move, while his accomplice managed to evade capture. A subsequent search of the vehicle’s boot confirmed the officers’ suspicions—sacks of bhang neatly packed and ready for distribution along the highway.
Jobita was immediately escorted to Samburu Police Station, where he is being processed ahead of his court appearance. Police say the impounded vehicle and the narcotics have been secured as exhibits, as the manhunt continues for the fugitive accomplice.
Authorities have lauded the public for their timely information, reiterating their commitment to intensify the crackdown on drug trafficking networks across the Coast region.
